2023 A Collective Lecture: Myth of Mothering by Tung I-Fen
Myth of Mothering is a lecturer performance by I-Fen, shaped by her personal journey through pregnancy. Confronted with long-standing folk beliefs, the scientific discourse of genetic testing, and the cultural myths shared between cross-cultural partners, I-Fen experienced a profound shift in perspective. This work extends beyond the personal, unraveling how invisible forces—social norms, national narratives, and inherited values—quietly shape our understanding of motherhood, identity, and the body. Through spoken reflection and performance, she weaves these insights into a compelling exploration of the myths that define and confine mothering today.
